Integrative Techniques, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Our clinic integrates many therapies that can be used in conjunction with each other where appropriate: Chiropractic, Laser Therapy,Whole Body Vibration, Acupuncture/Electroacupuncture, TENS, EMS, Kinesiotaping, Farriery, Icing and Heat.

Dr. Belsito has had education in other modalities such as laser, therapeutic ultrasound, PEMF, magnetic therapy, LED, vibration and can help you decide if these therapies are appropriate and when to incorporate.

Watertread Mill

The AquaPacer underwater treadmill system is designed specifically for the advance development of equine athletes of all disciplines. Through the control of hot and cold water temperature, water height (to control buoyancy and resistance), speed and duration, equine trainers and veterinarians can utilize AquaPacer to customize a protocol for each equine’s specific needs. The results are faster recovery and rehabilitation from injury, optimal training and conditioning, and overall performance and fitness improvement.

Vibrating Floor Systems

Vitafloor ® vibrating floor systems are a safe and easy way to give a horse both a versatile physical training and a massage in one go. The result is a notable improvement in blood circulation throughout the body, not just in the legs, but even in the upper body and organs. This helps ensure better health and injury prevention, as well as accelerating the healing process for injuries, and helping in colic prevention.

Vitafloor ® vibrating floor systems was specifically invented for horses, and uses the same well established physical and technological principles of whole body training (WBV) as are used for training astronauts to stimulate the development of bone density and muscle tone. The human version is adopted world-wide as an accepted means of raising overall fitness and the combustion of fat. Because it stimulates the blood circulation without the horse having to move, this makes it also a very effective therapy also for horses that are off work or on box rest. Laser Therapy

The innovative and patented Multiwave Locked System (MLS) Therapy Laser was developed in an effort to produce an efficient and simultaneous effect on pain, inflammation, and edema, exceeding the limits of traditional LLLT (low power) and concerns of HP (high power) laser therapy.

MLS technology delivers therapeutic wavelengths, 808nm (anti-edemic and anti-inflammatory) and 905nm (analgesic), allowing a tissue penetration depth of 3-4 cm. An energetic synergy is created when delivering these wavelengths that produces greater anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects than either can produce on its own, while minimizing the risk of thermal damage. It is this unique combination and synchronization of continuous and pulsed emissions that characterizes MLS and distinguishes it from other Class IV lasers.

Unlike early-generation Class IV technology, MLS Laser Therapy has the capability to deliver controlled laser energy. This unique feature provides more accurate therapeutic dose delivery, which means consistent and repeatable results.

With high levels of efficacy, safety, and consistency, MLS Laser Therapy can help physicians relieve pain and restore lives. For more information:Cutting Edge Laser Therapy

Kinesiotaping

Kinesiotaping is proven to decrease inflammation, increase blood flow, decrease pain and increase/reestablish proprioceptive awareness.

Kinesio tape (KT) is an elastic therapeutic tape used for treating sports injuries and a variety of other disorders. Chiropractor, Dr Kenso Kase, developed KT taping techniques in the 1970s.

The Equiband System

The Equiband™ system consists of a saddlepad and two separate lengths of Equiband™ that are attached to the saddlepad. The Equiband™ system can be used on horses of any age or discipline, providing they are free of any undiagnosed lameness or neurological disorder.

The Equiband™ itself is made of latex-free rubber, specifically designed for use on horses. The Equiband™ system uses either one or both bands on the horse; one shorter band attaches the left side of the saddle pad to the right, passing under the abdomen (abdominal band or AB). The band sits well behind the rider's leg. Its function is to stimulate the abdominal musculature during locomotion. The abdominal musculature supports the horse's back. The position of this band is especially indicated for horses that have recovered from a colic surgery, have poor (inverted) posture and in clinical cases such as diagnosed conditions of the back including 'kissing spines'.

The second and longer Equiband™ attaches at an oblique angle from the left side of the saddle pad to the right, passing under the tail behind the horse's hindquarters (hindquarter band or HQ). It will settle in the point of least resistance, above the hock and just below the level of the stifle. Its function is to make the horse aware of the position of his hind limbs in locomotion and to enhance proprioception. The position of this band is especially indicated for horses with asymmetrical hind limb movement, poor engagement and poor development of major muscle groups such as biceps femoris (which is associated with movement) as well as horses recovering from diagnosed musculoskeletal or neurological (EPM) conditions text and photo are owned by Equicore Concepts.
